Drapey Crepey

12 Oct

It’s the same old, same old. Plenty of makes, no pictures! I forced myself today to photograph everything I’ve made recently so I can blog regularly. It’s always playing on my mind that I must blog but I just hating taking photos of myself! It took me over 2 hours to photograph everything so be prepared for plenty of posts!

First up is this red number.

I made it for my hen do so we’re talking way behind on the blogging! (June FYI) Because it was for my hen do I splashed out on the fabric – a whole £7 a metre! It’s seriously lovely though;  crepe-backed silk/silk-backed crepe. This has started a whole new love affair with crepe for me and I’m looking to make everything from crepe! I love the way it drapes, it’s got fullness to it without being too heavy and the silk lining with literally zero effort is a definite win for me!

Oh wait, you still think it’s a boring dress….

Oh yeah! That’s a bow at the back, a great, big, massive bow.

The dress was self-drafted but pretty simple. Just a darted bodice and a pleated skirt.  The bow was just a rectangle I squidged together in the middle and tacked down on the dress. The fabric’s quite stretchy so there’s no zip, it just pulls on which was fantastic for coming home after a hen do… 😉

I found those AWESOME shoes

and knew I had to make a dress that would go with them. Would you believe me if I told you they were a fiver?!

The bow makes that dress! It’s really lovely 😀 I bet it was perfect for your hen (and I don’t believe you about the shoes!!!)

[…] Eventually I decided to go with a bow back dress. I used Simplicity 1803 (again!!) and then just drafted a bow like I did for my Hen Do Dress […]
